Rebecca Spademan, general manager of Clipstone Social Club (Clipstone Welfare), set Clippo Crafters a challenge — make a tablecloth for events held by the Clipstone and Forest Town branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL).
The Crafters, a social and crafting group that meets on Thursdays at the club, from 9.30am to 12noon, responded with a stunning piece of work.
Rebecca said: “They have surpassed themselves, great work ladies. This will be used for many years to come.”
The RBL Clipstone branch also gathers at the club on alternate months and members were presented with the new artwork by crafters (pictured left).
Set up by Barbara Brownlee to get people out of their homes and back into society after the pandemic, Clippo Crafters do community projects in return for the social club allowing it to use a room free of charge for meetings, as well as a store room to keep machines, fabrics, and more.
Pam Chadwick, of the Crafters, added: “Everyone is welcome and doesn’t need to be a crafter.
“We are willing to help and teach different crafts, aiming to repurpose, reuse, and recycle materials — saving them from landfill.
“The crafters gratefully receive any materials and craft supplies people have finished with.
“We are proud to support the Clipstone and Forest Town branch of the Royal British Legion.”
