Jobseekers are being offered expert advice on preparing the perfect CV at special sessions in Worksop, Mansfield, Hucknall and Kirkby-in-Ashfield during November.

The events, being organised by Nottinghamshire County Council through its work clubs, are free of charge and open to anyone currently looking for a job.

Those attending will learn what a CV is, the importance it plays when finding a job, how to get a CV started or updated and what information employers are looking for.

The CV workshops are being held on:

•5 November (10am-12noon) at Worksop Library
•11 November (10am-12noon) at Mansfield Library
•19 November (3.30pm-5.30pm) at Hucknall Library
•20 November (10am-12noon) at Kirkby-in-Ashfield Library

Councillor Diana Meale, Chair of Economic Development at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Employers will often see your CV before they see you, so it is absolutely vital that you create a favourable impression and include the right information they are looking for.

“Many of the people who come to our work clubs have limited experience of preparing a CV, often because they’ve not had to in the past or they have recently lost a long-term job and are out of practice.

“Regardless of how long you’ve been unemployed or even if you’re in work and are thinking of looking for a new job, these events are a great chance to get free, expert advice on an important aspect of getting the job you want.”

Work Clubs are free of charge to attend and give people the chance to meet others looking for work, build new contacts, share job hunting experiences and get advice on job searches, job applications, interview techniques, CVs, volunteering and training opportunities.

In addition to the regular sessions, special events – like the CV workshops – take place from time to time, including guest speakers from local employers.

There are nine Work Clubs, all based at libraries, across Nottinghamshire.
