Sutton-based A.Wass Funeral Directors has donated £2,000 to the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity.

The money will be used to support the health trust’s Covid-19 response.

Trust chief executive Richard Mitchell thanked A. Wass Funeral Directors for their “extremely generous donation” and added: “I am extremely proud of all NHS colleagues and key workers who are working so hard to care for our patients and members of the local community during these difficult times.”

Paul Brown (pictured), from A. Wass Funeral Directors, said: “Our NHS is doing an amazing thing for the people and this is the least we can do for them.

“Unfortunately we are now seeing a number of cases that are losing the battle through Covid-19, which is devastating for families losing loved ones. Let’s all pull together and follow guidelines so people can try and return to normal life as soon as we can and get back to normality at the earliest opportunity, so please stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”
