Newark and Sherwood District Council has relaunched its free tree scheme, which has so far given more than 14,400 trees to residents and community groups over the past five years.
Residents, community groups, and parish councils can get involved by signing up or going to the council website to receive two free whips. Trees are given away with care advice too.
From now until Friday, 20th December, people can apply for two types of tree – a beech or a wayfaring.
Trees can be collected on:
Friday, 17th January – Sconce and Devon Park, Newark, from 3pm to 6pm.
Saturday, 18th January – Southwell Market Place, from 9am to 1pm, and Vicar Water Country Park, Clipstone, from 9am until 1pm.
Residents will be given the opportunity to download an information leaflet on how to plant and look after the tree.
Trees will be available on these dates only, so residents are being encouraged to check that they are available on one of these days or to find someone to collect on their behalf prior to applying.
The final day for applying is Friday, 20th December.
