Residents thinking about decorating have the chance to paint their homes for free thanks to the Community RePaint Nottinghamshire scheme one-off events run by Veolia (Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste contractors).
Unwanted/surplus paint is accepted from Nottinghamshire residents at Warsop, Newark, Beeston and Calverton Recycling Centres. Any tins that are at least half full of reusable paint are stored separately in the shelved reuse container and are given away for free.
This paint is available to community groups, schools and charities who are registered on the scheme throughout the year and to Nottinghamshire residents at the special one off events listed below
The upcoming Nottinghamshire Community RePaint resident dates for 2016 are:
Calverton Recycling Centre, NG14 6NR – Thursday 15th September starting at 4pm – last slot at 5.45pm
Warsop Recycling Centre, NG20 0JG – Tuesday 20th September starting at 4pm – last slot at 5.45pm
Residents who would like to pick up some free paint need to call Nottinghamshire County Council on 0300 500 80 80 to book a time slot at their chosen site. Pre-booking is essential. The type and colours of paint cannot be guaranteed but there’s usually a range of emulsion, gloss and eggshell to choose from and often some fence and masonry paint too. Residents are reminded to wear some sturdy footwear when visiting the site and to bring some bags or boxes to protect their vehicle when transporting the paint home.
Community groups, schools and charities can arrange an appointment online to collect paint from their chosen site via the Nottinghamshire County Council website http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/waste-and-recycling/recycling-and-disposing-of-waste/how-to-recycle-or-dispose-of-common-waste-items/paint
