Free half-term fun at museum

Posted onPosted on 20th Oct

Mansfield Museum is laying on a week of activities to keep youngsters busy during the half term holiday.

Some of the activities are free while others cost a nominal fee of £1 per person. The sessions are suitable for ages 14 and under and there is no need to book, but if the session is busy, participants may need to wait for a place to become available.

The activities kick off on Monday 26 October with a free Lego play day from 10am to 3pm.

On Tuesday 27 October, there will be a special surprise guest at a free colouring and crafts session called “The Minions are coming…” from 10am to 2pm.

Wednesday 28 October will see another art-based activity called ArtBeat! when children will be able to make a Tree Fu Toms Magical Belt. It is from 10am to 1pm and costs £1 per person.

Young bookworms may be interested in the £1 ArtBeat! session on Thursday 29 October when youngsters will be making Halloween bookmarks from 10am to 1pm

Finally, the £1 ArtBeat! session on Friday 30 October, with colouring, crafts and games, from 10am to 1pm, is called: “We love dogs fun day!” which will be run in partnership with the Environment and Public Protection Team at Mansfield District Council.

Children must be supervised by an adult at all times and should wear appropriate clothing. If you plan to bring a group of more than ten, the museum, which is in Leeming Street, asks to be contacted in advance.

Portfolio Holder for Cultural Services, and Town and District Centres, Cllr David Smith, said: “Mansfield’s Museum is a fantastic place to spend time with lots of interesting and entertaining displays. These half term activities will help to ensure there is something to keep all our younger visitors amused, so come along and get involved!”
