Free festive meal for anyone alone on Christmas Day

A care home in Warsop is hosting a free Christmas dinner for those who may be alone this winter.

The Oaklands Centre, which specialises in providing care for adults with a learning disability suffering from dementia, Alzheimer’s, memory loss and similar disorders, was inspired to host the festive meals by the success of its monthly dementia cafe.

Anyone who is set to be alone on Christmas Day is welcome to go to the meal, which will be served between 12.30pm and 1pm.

The Oaklands, a charity, has been supported by the Warsop community.

The Hare and Hounds pub has given bottles of wine for the festive meal and also has a collection point for any donations.

Beryl’s fruit and veg shop has offered veg, and the Co-op has set up a donation point. The Big Warsop Fund has also donated £500.

The home is hoping to offer transport to people who need to travel to the meal.
