Free advice on digital skills, avoiding scams

Posted onPosted on 10th Mar

AGE UK Notts is hosting an event to help give people digital skills, including how not to fall for scams.

The Scams Prevention Awareness and Digital Inclusion event at Mansfield Civic Centre will also give information about the switch-off of analogue telephone landlines in 2025.

A new system, to be run on IP networks, will require an internet connection and telecoms companies will provide support.

Age UK Notts said its Digital Inclusion programme can help people gain the skills they need and people can loan a tablet if necessary, subject to availability.

It is also looking for more digital champion volunteers to guide people through learning the skills to participate safely in the online world.

There are one-to-one tuition and group sessions for people wanting to learn more about scam prevention and digital skills.

The event, offering free advice, including information on other Age UK services, is at Mansfield Civic Centre on Wednesday, 19th April, from 10am to 4pm.
