Nottinghamshire County Council is running a number of fostering information evenings to let people find out more about fostering.

The Council is looking for people who could become foster carers and wants to dispel the myth that you have to be super human to foster.

There are 730 children in Nottinghamshire in need of stable and loving foster homes. In fact, on average one Nottinghamshire child comes into care every day.

Jayne Austin, Service Manager for Fostering, said: “There’s no one kind of person who can become a foster carer. We assess everyone on their merits; age, sexuality or gender is not a barrier.

“If you’ve ever had a feeling that one day you’d like to foster then perhaps now you could make this a reality and find out more.”

The Council is hoping to attract people who could offer a home to children aged 11+ and sibling groups.

Jayne added: “If you’re loving, patient and could make a commitment to caring for a young person you could be a great foster carer.

“We have a fantastic support system in place which includes putting you in touch with local foster carers who can offer plenty of advice and share their knowledge and experience.”

The fostering information evenings are taking place at:

West Bridgford Library, Tuesday 17 November 6.30-8.30pm

Mansfield Library, Thursday 19 November 6.30-8.30pm

Worksop Library, Thursday 26 November 6-8pm,
