Folk club hits a high note for Frenbot charity football match

Posted onPosted on 28th Mar

Charities in the Mansfield and Ashfield area are set to receive a boost from the Frenbot charity football match, featuring celebrities and stars from television.

The annual fundraiser, which will take place at Forest Town Arena on Sunday, 4th August, has already been supported by many local organisations and businesses.

Among them is Mansfield Folk and Acoustic Club, which donated £300 to Frenbot from the proceeds of one of its popular singers nights.

Each year since it reopened in 2021, the club has made the match one of the many charities it supports.

Last year Mansfield Folk and Acoustic Club gave away a total of £3,656 in donations to local and national charities.

Craig French, who created Frenbot in 2018, said: “A massive thank you to everyone at Mansfield Folk and Acoustic Club for their wonderful donation.

“This is the third year they have donated to us. Thank you again and hope to see you on 4th August at Forest Town Arena.”

The Frenbot team will be playing against Supporting Charities FC, a team of celebrities featuring television Emmerdale stars, former professional footballers, comedians, and sports stars.

The gates will open at Forest Town Arena on 4th August at 1pm, with kick-off at 3pm. There will also be a mini funfair, food stalls, and more.

To buy tickets for the match go to https://shorturl.at/ouvRX or contact Frenbot on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FrenbotFootball.

Mansfield Folk and Acoustic Club meets every Monday, including most bank holidays, at Forest Town Arena until 10.30pm. Doors open 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

It aims to provide a range of live acoustic music at a price that means no one is excluded.

A varied programme runs throughout the year. Acoustic singer and musician nights are open to all, with £1 admission. Feature nights include two 20-minute sessions by a named performer, with the rest of the evening opened to floor spots. Admission is £2. Guest nights feature a main artist and support act for £5 entry.

Anyone interested in playing, singing or listening to all forms of acoustic music is promised a warm welcome.
