Final call for summer play funding applications

Posted onPosted on 23rd Apr

Voluntary sector organisations only have a few days left to apply for funding to put on play schemes during the school summer holidays.

Nottinghamshire County Council is offering groups the chance to bid for grants of up to £1,000, but the deadline closes at 5pm on Monday, 27th April.

Applications should be made via the County Council’s website at: www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/summer-play

Applicants will need to meet a pre-application eligibility check and will only be considered if:

•The organisation is a voluntary organisation or group supporting children’s play
•The play scheme is for children or young people aged 5-14 years
•The play scheme will operate during the Nottinghamshire schools summer holidays (July – August 2015)
•The group / organisation has public liability insurance covering all planned activities
•The play scheme is being delivered in Nottinghamshire
Cathy Harvey, Community and Voluntary Sector Team Manager at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “The long school summer holidays can sometimes be boring for children and frustrating for parents, so we’re encouraging groups to organise safe, enjoyable activities for children in their community.

“Through the Summer Play Scheme Grant Aid Scheme, we want to encourage groups to put on a wide variety of activities for young people – from arts and crafts to sports and games.

“Summer Play Schemes can have a positive impact on education, health and community safety, which contributes to the County Council’s strategic priorities.”
