Festival to bring hope to those fighting addiction

Posted onPosted on 5th Aug

A new alcohol-free festival at Pleasley Pit Visitor Centre and Mining Museum aims to showcase inspiring stories of people who have triumphed over addiction.

In an effort to transform the narrative surrounding addiction, Langwith’s Rhubarb Farm and Elastic FM, based in Chesterfield, have partnered for The Hope Festival.

A celebration of sharing stories of recovery, resilience, and the power of the human spirit on Saturday, 21st September, will include live music throughout the afternoon and evening.

The event has been conceived by Ben Sofield, of Rhubarb Farm, who said: “The Hope Festival is a testament to the unwavering belief in the possibility of recovery.

“By sharing stories of hope and resilience, we aim to break down the stigma associated with addiction and empower individuals to seek the help they need.”

He said more than just a music gathering, the festival would provide a safe and empowering space for individuals who are navigating their personal recovery journey.

Attendees will be able to connect with a community of supporters and hear first-hand accounts of personal transformation.

Recovery professionals and organisations who operate projects to support people through the recovery process will be present.

The Hope Festival’s programme will also include Recovery Street film festival highlights, a selection of films that shed light on the realities of addiction and the path to recovery.

David Lilley, chairman of community media organisation Elastic FM, added: “We are proud to be part of this positive event and occasion. The Hope Festival will serve as a beacon of hope for those struggling with addiction, reminding them that they are not alone and that a brighter future is within reach.”

The event, which will run from 1pm to 9pm, is open to everyone who wants to celebrate recovery, support loved ones on their journey, or simply learn more about addiction and its impact.

Bands lined up to play include Liv IBell, The Skintones, Jamie Woodcock, Kill The Shru, and Calming Storm.
