Burma campaign veteran George Humphrey, a member of the Warsop branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL), is one of the national faces of this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Mr Humphrey has been made a life member of the branch.
The branch held a VJ party to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the war against Japan.
A spokesman said the life membership was a rare honour given only to those who have worked long and hard supporting the branch and the aims of the RBL.
