Encouraging youngsters to care for our wildlife

Posted onPosted on 23rd Mar

A Mansfield business is continuing its work to inspire children to care about nature and wildlife.

Mayborn Group, which makes baby products, including the Tommy Tippee brand, has a long-standing community partnership with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust as part of its sustainability commitment.

Children from the Mansfield and Ashfield Wildlife Watch Group, the trust’s junior section, previously built and decorated bird boxes now used across the Mayborn site at Hamilton Way, Mansfield.

They returned in March to have a look at the boxes and the work being done at the factory to encourage wildlife, which includes a pond and the planting of wildflowers.

The young people were joined at one of their meetings by Leysa Relf, global CSR and EHS manager at Mayborn Group, and its head of manufacturing operations (UK and Africa), Scott Rontree.

They went for a ramble through the Oakham Local Nature Reserve adjacent to the industrial estate at Hamilton Way, identifying plants along the way, before returning to the Mayborn site.

Mansfield and Ashfield Wildlife Watch Group meets on the first Saturday of the month. For more details go to nottinghamshirewildlife.org/wildlifewatch
