Sherwood Forest Rotary members are among community groups making and displaying hearts for the Love Edwinstowe and Sherwood Forest Project in Edwinstowe.
The trail, initiated by RSPB Sherwood Forest, runs from 10th-21st February and is also being well supported by local businesses, as well as groups, societies and individuals from around the Edwinstowe and Ollerton area.
A spokesman for the club said: “We hope that you manage to get a glimpse of the many styles of heart on display in and around Edwinstowe and the forest.”
Around 500 hearts have been created from a variety of materials, from wood to wool, and lead from Edwinstowe village centre through to St Mary’s Church, Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre, RSPB Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and as far as the Major Oak, in the heart of the forest.
A set of clues are provided to help track down some of the hearts with prizes up for grabs.
Carol Hallam, RSPB Sherwood Forest community and volunteer development officer, said: “The response to this project has been absolutely phenomenal, and we have been blown away by the enthusiasm and support we’ve received from the local community, especially from so many of the businesses in the village. They’ve really been sharing the love for it.
“People of all ages have been taking part, creating inspiring and imaginative designs that caught the eye.”
The Love Edwinstowe and Sherwood Forest trail is now open with 701 individually crafted hearts leading from the Village Centre to the Forest. The event runs until 21st February.
You can follow a set of 25 clues leading you around the trail, and be in with a chance of winning a prize.
