Driving beasts of the road to help Rotary

Posted onPosted on 16th Aug

Taylors Transport and Kirkby Rotary teamed up to raise almost £1,500 for good causes as the Huthwaite company’s annual drive-a-truck event at Convoy In The Park proved another success.

It was part of the British Truck Racing Championship and inaugural International Truck Prix at Donington Park.

Around 150 people took the chance to drive a truck, raising money for the Rotary club through donations.

Taylor’s Transport Driver Training School instructors provided Scania articulated lorries and trailers.

Alan Taylor, managing director of Taylor’s Transport, said: “It’s always a pleasure to work alongside the Rotary Club on this annual event and with any community-based organisation or initiative.”

Neil Lancashire, fundraiser for Kirkby Rotary, added: “Once again we would like to thank Alan Taylor and Taylor’s Transport Group for donating the trucks and time given by his friendly instructors.

Mark Willetts, driver training instructor, said: “It was great to see so many people come along to see us and take part in driving a truck for a good cause. A big thank-you to you all and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.”
