Double donations now live

Posted onPosted on 30th Nov

This year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge is now live!

Local charity Reach Learning Disability is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021 – a national matched-funding campaign that enables people to have their charitable donations doubled for one week. From now until midday on Tuesday, 7th December, donations to Reach made online through The Big Give Christmas Challenge website could be doubled.

Reach is aiming to raise £16,000 for its Holidays & More Project. Funds raised will contribute towards the costs of planning safe, supportive opportunities for local people with learning disabilities to go on fun day trips and holidays away, providing vital respite for family carers.

Reach client Tom explains how he has been impacted by the pandemic and what the Reach holidays mean to him: “Because of Covid-19 it’s been stressful as it’s changed nearly everything. I really missed my holiday last year. When I have a holiday booked with Reach, I feel really excited about it. It’s something new and we get to choose what we do. I get to see my friends and we have a good laugh together. I get to be independent there with support from staff when I need it.”

Fundraising Assistant Rachel Bates said: “The chance to have donations become worth twice as much is an incredible opportunity for Reach. The Holidays & More Project will offer local people with learning disabilities time away to gain confidence, make memories with friends and broaden their horizons. Every donation doubled makes a real difference, especially to family carers who will benefit from time to themselves.”

To get your donation doubled, go to the Big Give Christmas Challenge website before midday Tuesday 7th December and search for Reach Learning Disability: Holidays & More. Visit www.reachuk.org for more details or contact Laura on [email protected] or 01636 819066.
