Berry Hill Primary School has seen huge changes to the Mansfield school’s playgrounds thanks to two Lottery grants.
An Awards For All grant of £9,940 has enabled it to buy playground equipment for older children.
The Berry Hill Parent, Teacher and Friends group (PTFA) also made a £2,000 contribution and a donation of £500 was given to the playground project by Costcutter, Southwell Road West.
The funding helped to create a stimulating play area, including musical instruments and climbing equipment.
Improvements to seating and fencing will develop the quiet space the children requested.
The school also secured a Primary Spaces/Sports England grant of £30,000 to develop a Multi-Use Games Area on one of the playgrounds.
The bright-coloured facility has goal ends, volleyball posts and rubber soft surfacing that will help the school develop games and sports.
It was one of only 600 Primary Spaces grants to be awarded across the country and one of only two in Mansfield.
Head Susan Brown said: “We are excited about being awarded these two grants. We tried to meet the children’s wishes — a quiet area that is quiet, more physical play challenges for them, as well as space for sports.”
“If schools in the area are interested in looking for grants, then Corinna Brown, our extended services co-ordinator, is skilled in applying for Awards for All grants.
“We are interested in supporting other schools to access this funding.”
