Mansfield District Council has won two major awards in recognition of its management of address information.
At the national GeoPlace Exemplar Awards, the council scooped Best Address Data in the East Midlands region and a Gold Achievement Award for its work on the Local Land and Property Gazetteer.
This is the third consecutive year that the council has won these prestigious awards, which celebrate excellence in the way that street and address information is delivered across local government.
The Best in Region Award is given to the authority which provides the most up to date, accurate information to a national hub, which maintains address data from all authorities in England and Wales.
The quality of address data from local authorities is important as over 75% of public sector organisations across Great Britain use it to run services, including the registration of land and title ownership, the collection of TV licence revenue, school admissions, fraud analysis and passport applications.
Presenting the award to the council, Neil Silley, senior national address data manager, said: “Mansfield District Council has achieved the highest standard of street information data management in the East Midlands region. Achieving this level demonstrates excellence and commitment to a process that brings local and national benefits.”
ICT manager Anthony Baxter said: “We are extremely proud to have won these prestigious awards for the third year running. These awards recognise the quality of our data management and the effort we put into the job of maintaining the gazetteer to the highest level of national standards.”
