Doggie walk to help teen’s charity aim

Posted onPosted on 1st Apr

Caring teenager Lacey Lane is on a mission — to represent her home town in the final of a national competition and raise money for a children’s charity.

Lacey, 13, of Mansfield, has got through to the semi-finals of Miss Teen GB and aims to make the final in Blackpool.

She is also raising money for Together For Short Lives and is to host a Doggie Family Walk on 8th May to help the charity.

Lacey said: “I am so excited to have made it to the semi-final. It is a great achievement.

“Making it to the grand final would be a dream come true. Fingers crossed I will be able to represent my home town and win the Miss Teen Great Britain crown!”

Teenagers from across Great Britain will compete for the crown in the spectacular grand final. The winner of Miss Teen Great Britain will walk away with many prizes.

A weekend of events will include a Beauty Queen Challenge Day, a pyjama diva party, and more.

On Sunday, 8th May her 6km Doggie Family Walk will take people and their dogs — though anyone wanting to join the walk without a dog is also encouraged to take part — through woodland.

It will run from 10am to 12noon and refreshments will be available. The meeting point will be at Chatsworth Drive, Mansfield NG18 4QT.

Anyone interested should email [email protected] for an entry form, which should then be returned.

Full details of the walk and route will be passed on. There is a minimum donation of £5.

Rosettes will also be awarded in three categories — Most Handsome, Beautiful Bitch, and Perfect Match (send a photo of you and your dog). It costs £1 to enter each category.

Lacey added: “I hope you will support me by joining us for a walk through the woods. If your dog isn’t friendly then maybe you can do this in your own free time.”

Together For Short Lives aims to make sure the 99,000 seriously ill children and their families in the UK can make the most of every moment they have together – whether that’s for years, months or only hours. Many of these children have complex conditions and need specialist care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Anyone who would like to support Lacey’s fundraising can enter the walk and/or go to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/laceylane and make a donation.
