Dog show coming to Mansfield

On Sunday 17 July, families are invited to attend a day out at Mansfield Market to have fun with their four-legged friends at a dog show and pet-themed market from 10am to 3pm.

The event is set to attract hundreds of dog lovers to the town centre with the promise of entertainment for all the family and a chance to show off beloved pets’ skills in the fun show arena.

Dogs can be entered into the following categories for just £2 per dog, per category:

· Cutest puppy

· Most handsome chap

· Loveliest lady

· Best friend- child handler

· Best rescue

· Best in show

The dog show, which is being organised by The Good Dog Training Group, aims to raise funds for The Jerry Green Dog Rescue; a charity that works hard to rescue and rehome stray and abandoned dogs.

Families can enter their dog in as many categories as they like, registering them at 10am in the Market Place on the day.

There will also be a number of stalls selling pet food and toys at affordable prices, along with the chance to support other animal charities and even pick up a gift from one of the craft stalls.

Stalls are still available for those people looking to pitch up and sell at this family event for just £5 per stall for the day, with free parking for traders in the Robin Hood Line car park.

Traders selling pet accessories and crafts are encouraged to book a stall by contacting Nicola Harvey at [email protected] or calling 01623 463818.

In addition to the special market, there will also be entertainment for children at the Joker Circus Workshop where children can have a go at juggling and the diabolo from 11am to 2pm. Look out for the stilt walking clowns too as well as the craft activity stall provided by Mansfield Museum.

Mansfield District Council’s Dog Control Team will also be there to offer advice on responsible dog ownership and provide the opportunity to have a selfie with their mascot; Scoop dog.

Portfolio Holder for Cultural Services, Town and District Centres, Cllr David Smith said: “We have a real love for pets in our district and this event is a great way to show them off whilst supporting a worthy charity, as well as your town centre.

“Stalls are still available so if you have something you would like to offer, do get in touch.”
