Thousands of people followed dinosaur footprints into Mansfield town centre in June to enjoy the Jurassic Mansfield event put on by Mansfield BID (Business Improvement District).

Children picked up free dino wristbands, chiselled away at dinosaur eggs, and took away sweets from Nexus, based on Church Street, and grow-your-own dinosaur eggs.

The star of the show, giant dinosaur Zeus, made three live performances and wowed the audience. Stars and Stripes, from the Handley Arcade, also took Rita and her small dinosaur friends, which interacted with youngsters.

Sue Rogers, operations manager at Mansfield BID, said: “This was one of the best turnouts we have had for an event, bringing in a massive 23% extra footfall.

“It was an amazing day for the whole town and lots of children and families had fun, while some businesses in the town recorded record sales for the day.

“Everyone is buzzing and still talking about when the dinosaurs came to Mansfield town centre.”
