Debuts for two choir members

Mansfield and District Male Voice Choir has welcomed a new member, Justin Agah-Gilbert (pictured left) with fellow member Mick Tunney, who made his debut singing with Our Dementia Choir, fronted by well-known actress Vicky McClure.

Justin joined MDMVC’s bass section and has quickly integrated into the life of the choir.

Together with his wife, Sally, and sons, Lucas and Nathaniel, Justin said be enjoys the social and family feeling encouraged at the choir.

He made his public performing debut at the choir’s concert with the Mastersingers in St John’s Church, Mansfield, in 9th September.

Mick has been a MDMVC member since 2009 in the baritone section. Through his friendship with chairman Geoff Hursthouse, Mick joined Our Dementia Choir — Geoff’s daughter, Danielle Smith, is assistant musical director.

Mick made his debut with the choir at the National Television Awards. in the London O2 Arena, last month.

He said he is showing only the very early signs of dementia and thought it would be a great idea to go along.
