Staff danced the night away at a school’s Strictly Come Dancing-style event.

Bracken Hill School’s event at the Festival Hall, Kirkby, was supported by many organisations and individuals, including Kirkby Rotary Club.

Money was raised for the special needs school and for a local boy suffering from a life-limiting illness with no cure.
The evening began with all 10 contestants in a group dance and their dances in different dance styles, including salsa, pasodoble, Charleston and samba, were interspersed with numbers performed by students.

Winners were Kim Tomlinson and Martin Dore for their rendition of the jive. Jancy Hunt organised the event.
Kirkby Rotary Club donated the Strictly trophy and raffle prizes and made a contribution towards the costs of the evening.

The winners’ trophy was co-presented by Coun Glenys Maxwell, chairman of Ashfield District Council, and Rotarian Francis Newenham, chairman of the Rotary club’s projects committee.
