Shetland ponies live on stage, the return of Mansfield’s favourite comedy actor and two well known faces from television have been lined up for the 2019 festive panto at the Palace Theatre, Mansfield.
Fans of BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey are in for a treat as Melanie Walters, (above), swaps Wales for her magic wand to play the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella.
The actress, best known for playing Gwen West in the BAFTA-winning television series, said: “I’ve heard from so many people that Mansfield Palace is a lovely theatre with a brilliant audience. Panto is great fun for all the family and I can’t wait.”
Cinderella will be played by Milkshake! presenter from Channel 5 Olivia Birchenough, who won Best Leading Female at the 2017 Great British Pantomime Awards for her performance of the role.
Playing Buttons alongside her, and back by popular demand, is Adam Moss, now a panto regular at the theatre.
After having a hand in reworking parts of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs last year, Adam can’t wait to get his hands on this year’s script.
“This year marks my 30th year in showbusiness, which is hard to believe considering I’m only 37,” he quipped.
“What better way to celebrate than being back in Mansfield for one of their favourite pantomimes, Cinderella? I can’t wait to get started and have so many ideas up my sleeve to make it another show to remember.”
Added magic this year will come from Shetland ponies live on stage.
With almost 20% of tickets already sold, the theatre is urging customers to book early if they want to secure certain seats or performances.
The usual Pay Now Save Now offer is currently running, with £1 off per ticket, until 31st August.
