A pioneering scheme aimed at getting more Nottinghamshire residents to discover the benefits of using the internet has been extended for a second year.
Nottinghamshire County Council launched the Nottinghamshire Digital Champions Network (NDCN) 12 months ago, with the aim of recruiting volunteers to help others get the most out of life online.
The County Council will continue to work with Digital Unite, a specialist provider of services to promote digital skills learning, to deliver the programme and provide support to volunteers.
So far, more than 60 volunteers have taken part in the scheme and helped promote internet use in Nottinghamshire. But the County Council is keen to recruit more Digital Champions across the county.
If you’re already a Digital Champion, or are interested in becoming one, you can find out more over coffee and cake at one of two up-and-coming information events:
•Wednesday 8 June 2016, 4 – 6pm
The Meeting Place, Mansfield Central Library, Mansfield (NG18 1NH)
•Thursday 9 June 2016, 12 noon – 2pm
The Meeting Room, Nottingham Contemporary (NG1 3FB)
These informal and friendly sessions are a great way of learning more about the Network, meeting fellow Champions and sharing ideas, thoughts and experiences about helping others to get online.
