Council and museum remember Holocaust

Posted onPosted on 27th Jan

Mansfield District Council marked Holocaust Memorial Day on Friday with a short ceremony at the Civic Centre.

A candle was lit by Jacqueline Collins, director of governance, and a minute’s silence held to remember those who died or suffered during The Holocaust in the Second World War, and during other acts of genocide around the world.

Mansfield Museum is also hosting a display to enable people to learn more about those who suffered under Nazi persecution. The display, which runs until the end of the month, includes information and videos of survivors’ stories.

Jacqueline Collins said: “I hope people will take the time to go and see the exhibition at the Museum. It is very important that we take time to remember the horror of the Holocaust and terrible suffering and deaths that happened.”
