Coronavirus: Mansfield District Council update 24 March evening

Mansfield District Council’s update on Tuesday evening, 24th March was:

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday, 23rd March, offices are now closed to the public until further notice.

We are also working hard to ensure we can sustain our critical services beyond the next 12 weeks. Council employees are working from home, where possible, to keep themselves well. They will be redeployed to help community efforts to support our most vulnerable residents when needed.

Bins and recycling
Bin collections are taking place as normal. Ensure you park your car considerately so the council can empty all bins that are put out for collection.

Environmental Health
Food premises inspections suspended until further notice.

Housing repairs
The council is currently only be carrying out essential repairs inside tenants’ homes. Full details available on our report a repair webpage.

Homeless prevention
We are working with our homeless community, Derby City Mission and Framework outreach team to ensure that rough sleepers and volunteers are safe and well and social distancing guidelines are followed.

Leisure and wellbeing
Our children’s play areas and outdoor gym equipment and trim trails are closed. Signage will be put up on site. Parks and open spaces remain open but the public must follow the strict guidance on remaining two metres away from other people.

Mansfield District Leisure Trust has announced the closing of our leisure centres. Visit the Mansfield District Leisure Trust website for answers to any questions about membership payments and tips on staying active.

Town centre and parking
All Mansfield District Council car parks across the district are now free to use, with no parking charges.

All public toilets are closed until further notice.

The majority of Mansfield Market has been closed. The only traders remaining will be fruit and vegetable stalls and a meat vendor to allow the public continued access to fresh produce. This is subject to social distancing measures being followed and will remain under constant review.

Department for Work and Pensions service update
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that there will be limited access to jobcentres from tomorrow, including at Mansfield Civic Centre. This is in line with recent Government guidance and to make sure those who need support receive it. For more information, visit the DWP website.
