Coronavirus: Car parking charges lifted

Posted onPosted on 30th Mar

All Ashfield District Council managed town car parks have been made free with time limits lifted for the next three months in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The council said the move would help key workers.

Motorists have been asked to observe disabled bay rules.

Car parks at the council’s parks and green spaces will be closed until further notice.

Residents that hold season tickets will have these extended by three months once charges are reintroduced.

Coun Jason Zadrozy, leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “We are removing the charges from our town carparks for the safety of our residents and staff. Key workers across the district can now chose the safer option of driving to work, without incurring any extra cost.

“This does not mean we are encouraging residents to leave their homes. It’s incredibly important that residents adhere to the government’s guidance and Stay Home, Save Lives.

“The car parks in our parks and green spaces are now all closed in line with government guidance on social distancing.

“The council is working hard to ensure that all services continue to be delivered. Staff are stepping into roles they don’t normally do to ensure that your bins are emptied and enquiries answered as soon as possible, and I’d like to thanks residents for their patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.”
