Community support for dementia tables initiative

Posted onPosted on 1st Apr

A fundraising campaign is under way to raise £5,000 to buy two specialist dementia tables.

Lidder Care, which operates Newgate Lodge Care Home, Mansfield, and Lowmoor Nursing Home, Kirkby, has organised a series of activities, events, and community support to back the initiative.

Employees and children at Little Chiefs – Wiggles and Giggles Day Nursery, Mansfield, hosted a fun-filled pyjama week, raising £254 that was donated (pictured above) to support the fundraising.

Newgate Lodge received £200 donation from Ian and Carolyn Harrison (above), whose loved one was previously cared for at the home.

Supplied by Tiny Tablet, the tables will enrich residents’ lives by providing therapeutic engagement, offering sensory stimulation, encouraging social interaction, and improving overall wellbeing for residents.

Lidder Care employees, residents and loved ones, are participating in various events to raise money, including:

24th April – Newgate Lodge is hosting a fundraising quiz night.

10th May — A fundraising fancy dress walk featuring both homes when employees and residents will dress up in creative costumes.

11th June — A 77-mile exercise bike ride by staff and residents at Newgate Lodge.

6th July — A Tough Mudder 10K challenge by the Lidder Care operations team at Belvoir Castle.

A signed match ball from the Mansfield Town clash with Rotherham United will be raffled, with the draw taking place on 16th May.
