Community fun day a knockout success!

Posted onPosted on 14th Sep

A family fun day to raise awareness of community support in the Ravensdale area of Mansfield was a success.

Free activities included face painting, tattooing, inflatables, street dance, and litter picking, together with a boxing ring with Ashfield School of Boxing and Mansfield School of Boxing.

It was hosted by Switch Up, which aims to empower young people and children to break the cycle of offending and reoffending.

Switch Up, based on Barringer Road, wanted to showcase the various support groups and activities it hosts.

The charity also runs mentoring, counselling, accredited non-formal education, personal development workshops, and mentoring for young people serving custodial sentences.

Operations and delivery manager Michael Rowley said there was a great turnout and good feedback from those who attended. “It was wonderful to see such community spirit,” he added. “I thank our partners and volunteers who made this event a huge success.”

The event was supported by Mansfield District Council, Mansfield BID, Mansfield MP and Nottinghamshire County Council leader Coun Ben Bradley, Nottingham Trent University, Mansfield District Police, Mansfield CVS, and 200 degrees coffee.
