Two members of Mansfield North Community SpeedWatch, June Stendall and Jamie Whitaker, receive a commendation from the divisional commander, Chief Superintendent Mark Holland, for their work with the group.

They said: “We have received this on behalf of all 26 public members of the group, and the Mansfield North Neighbourhood Policing Team, who without their support the project would not have been successful.”

The commendation said their work allowed the rest of the Beat Team to concentrate on high-visibility patrols, crime prevention and detection work.

It added: “Your work is so well regarded that you are now expanding the scheme in the Mansfield North area as well as being seconded on to other neighbourhood teams to share your expertise. All this is done in your own time and with no financial reward.”

Volunteers are needed in Mansfield Woodhouse and South Mansfield. People who can give a minimum of an hour a month and would like to become a SpeedWatch volunteer are urged to come forward.

Vetted police volunteers to help run the schemes are also required.
