Students and staff from the ATTFE College of Motor Vehicle Technology, Ollerton, went to Donington Park to support Huthwaite-based Taylors Trucksport Racing Team in the International Truck Prix and annual Convoy in the Park.

They met driver Mark Taylor, watched the team on track testing, and were able to compare with what they usually work on at the vehicle college.

Some of the students returned for a full race day on the Saturday, where Taylors gained a third-place trophy. On the Sunday they won the last race of the day.

The visit followed the company taking a new roadgoing Volvo truck to the college.

Liz Barrett, principal, said: “It was a privilege to be invited to Donington. We took some of our 16 to 18-year-old Motor Vehicle learners, who learned so much as well as having an epic time cheering and supporting Mark from trackside.”
