Charlene Burton-Betts, left, from the locally-based The Peaceful Trust, which helps causes in this area and in Africa, presented Sharon Baum, of the Cornwater Club charity shop, with £1,000, the result of a collaboration to collect donated furniture.

Last year the charity shop formed a partnership with the trust, enabling it to offer free collection of large pieces of furniture from donors in Mansfield, Blidworth and Ravenshead.

The shop, established eight years ago, sells high-quality second-hand goods in aid of the Cornwater Club, an older people’s charity.

The trust collects larger items of furniture and sells them through their larger outlets.
