Mansfield District Council is appealing for people to take part in a community litter pick in Mansfield Woodhouse, as part of a week of action to improve the local environment.
The litter pick will take place from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday 16 June, starting at The Royal British Legion on Slant Lane. All equipment and protective gloves will be provided, so all you need do is sign up and turn out on the day.
Young children are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or carer and must be under school age.
The week springs into action on Monday, 13 June with a neighbourhood warden surgery from 10am to 12pm in Morrison’s Square, when residents will have the opportunity to flag up any concerns they may have about the area with their local wardens.
This will be followed by a week of events, including litter patrols, dog fouling patrols and fly tipping enforcement. Advice and guidance will be given on environmental issues and there will be targeted enforcement of unkempt areas.
Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Holder for Public Protection at Mansfield District Council, Cllr Mick Barton said: “The week of action is about bringing the community together to help make Mansfield Woodhouse a cleaner and safer place to live for residents. If you would like to help out with this important community project, please get in touch.”
