Civic carol service in Mansfield

Mansfield District Council’s Civic Carol Service will be held on Tuesday, 15th December at 7pm at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in the town.

It will be held in conjunction with Mansfield Radio 103.2 which will be running a live broadcast of the event.

The service is open to members of the public and will be led by the Rev David Fudger, and Tony Delahunty, of Mansfield 103.2, who said: “It is a lovely event. We get listeners from around the world, some ex-pats, some working away, some in the Forces.

“Sometimes they get in touch during the broadcast and send messages to people who they know are in the congregation. It is a very heart-warming occasion.”

The service will include a welcome and reading by Deputy Mayor Cllr Mick Barton and readings by Mansfield’s Youth Mayor Jake Baldry, 16, and Cllr Andrew Tristram.

As well as the opportunity for the congregation to sing a few carols, there will also be performances by St Peter’s Church Youth Choir, Berry Hill School Choir and Mansfield’s Latvian chamber choir, Novadi.

At the end there will be a collection for the homeless.

Cllr Barton said: “We hope lots of people come and enjoy this service. It will be a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit as well as hear some talented performances from some of our local choirs. So come along and give your vocal chords and festive workout.”
