Choir and swing band host spring concert

Posted onPosted on 22nd Feb

Mansfield and District Male Voice Choir will be joining Ravenshead Swing Band for a spring concert in April.

Sing And Swing is to be staged at Ravenshead Village Hall on 22nd April.

The two groups performed together for the first time in April 2022 in front of a packed audience.

Ravenshead Swing Band was formed in 2011 by Carolyn Beedle, a long-standing musician, teacher, and company director.

Having a young daughter, she no longer wanted to travel to be able to play so formed the band by advertising locally.

It is a traditional ‘Big Band’ with five saxaphones, four trumpets and trombones, and a rhythm section as well as vocalists Sarah Carlin and Andrew Clarke. Their repertoire includes swing, jazz, and popular tunes from the 1940s to the 2000s.

The choir will perform a mixture of male voice choir standards and favourites as well as new songs from the modern era under musical director Ian Grice.

Tickets for the concert at Ravenshead Village Hall on 22nd April cost £10 and are available from Watson Knipe Ltd, call 01623 490120; choir secretary Eileen Lawrence, call 01623 455373; and Lynden Lowe, call 01623 230023 or via contacts at www.mansfieldmvc.co.uk and https://ravensheadswingband.co.uk
