Mansfield’s R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust, which supports disadvantaged children and young people, has been awarded £92,100 by BBC Children in Need.
The three-year grant of £92,100 means that Children in Need currently has more than £526,000 invested locally across six projects.
The trust will use the funding to support children and young people not in mainstream education or whose place is at risk.
Through a programme of support, which includes holiday clubs, counselling support and befriending programmes, the project aims to re-engage the children in education while developing their social skills and encouraging positive relationships.
Paul Maddox, fundraising manager at the trust, said: “This funding will enable us to run a new programme — R.E.A.L. Futures, named because it will give every young person we work with the chance of a real future.
“With this programme our young people will be supported as they work towards a qualification.
“We will complement this with a wrap of vital support services, ensuring that they are supported in all areas of their life, building their overall wellbeing for a positive and fulfilled future.”
