Posted onPosted on 21st Jun

Tackling loneliness and isolation is the aim of a new community café that has opened in Rainworth.

The Social Action Hub, on Kirklington Road, has launched a Chatty Café, part of a network around the UK.

It is open every Thursday during term time, from 10am to 12noon, servings free snacks, hot drinks, pastries, fruit, confectionery, and juice.

Admission is £1 and proceeds go towards the hub’s projects and services tackling food poverty and alleviating food waste.

Cafe visitors can talk with volunteers at the charity while enjoying a warm drink.

Additional food and drink is available at the hub’s tuck shop, with shop items sold separately. There is free wifi, laptops available for the public to use, and toys for young children to play with.

The café is also looking for more volunteers to help set up tables, serve refreshments, talk to visitors, and keep areas clean. A DBS and a food hygiene certificate are required, which the charity can help with obtaining if necessary. The hub said it was looking for a talkative, friendly, and welcoming people.
