Posted onPosted on 17th Dec

STAFF from Specsavers in Sutton (above) and Mansfield (below) have raised money for charity.

The team at Sutton held a bake-off and cake sale in aid of the John Eastwood Hospice, Sutton.

Ten members of staff made cakes and biscuits, which were judged with prizes awarded to a snowy Victoria sponge cake, a chocolate present cake and chocolate Christmas tree brownies.

Store director Nigel Davidson said: “The bake-off was a great way to kick off a day of fundraising for our chosen charity. It was wonderful to showcase the team’s talent, and the bakes were truly impressive.

“The John Eastwood Hospice is such an excellent local cause; we’ve all felt inspired by the work they do, and it’s an honour to fundraise on their behalf. We’ve decided to continue our support for the charity throughout 2020.”

The team at a Mansfield opticians raised more than £350 for charity in 2019. They supported Macmillan Cancer Support as their main cause, raising £234, and also collected funds for Jeans for Genes and Vision Aid Overseas, which provides eyecare in four African countries.

The team organised charity events, bake sales and dress-up days to raise money.

Patrick Hegarty, store director, said: “We’re proud to have fundraised for charities that mean a lot to the team, helping them continue their valuable work.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to all our customers for their support and donations.”
