Charity draw in support of kidney patients

Posted onPosted on 12th May

A charity has raised £9,897 in a raffle to continue its vital support for improving the health and quality of life of people living with kidney disease and those at risk.

The National Kidney Federation (NKF), based in Shireoaks, Worksop, organised a Spring Draw reveal joined by special guest Callum Bailey, county councillor for Worksop North to draw the winners.

The draw was organised to support the three million kidney patients around the UK. With one in ten people worldwide having kidney disease, the NKF campaigns for improvements to renal provision and treatment and offer national patient support services such as their Freephone Helpline for patients, carers, renal professionals, doctors and nurses manned by experienced helpline advisors.

Prizes announced on the day included the 1st prize winner who was awarded £1,000, 2nd prize winner with £500, 3rd prize winner with £250, plus 5 prize winners of £50.

Participants who entered the draw and added donations help with future charity activities. A recent national campaign that the NKF launched includes ‘Meeting the Cost of Home Dialysis Treatment – Together We Can’ calling on Government and NHS Trusts to urgently review the way in which home dialysis treatment is funded.

The head of fundraising and marketing, Pete Revell, said “We are extremely grateful to everyone that has supported us and took part in our raffle, this will enable us to continue our lifeline support to patients with kidney disease.”
