Charities combine for furniture service

The Cornwater Club’s charity shop on Queen Street, Mansfield, has expanded its service to include the free collection of donated furniture, through a partnership with the Peaceful Trust charity.

The charity shop, established seven years ago, sells high-quality, second-hand goods, making a major contribution to the sustainability of the Cornwater Club, an older people’s charity.

The shop does not have the facility to handle large items, but they can now be collected free through the new partnership by ringing the shop on 01623 656133 and will be sold by the trust.

Peter Rose, Cornwater Club chairman, said: “We are excited to be working with the Peaceful Trust in this way.

It enables us to extend the range of donated goods we can handle, helping local people and the environment by recycling these items and contributing to the sustainability of the club.”

The trust has donated £1,000 to the Cornwater Club and will make further donations as the service grows.

Charlene Betts, from the trust, said: “The Cornwater Club plays an important role in the community and this furniture project gives both charities an excellent opportunity to work together. We hope the project will be a great success.”
