Posted onPosted on 4th Jun

Multi Michelin Star award-winning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli was welcomed to Portland Square, Sutton, to start a new healthy eating project.

Feel Good Food is a pilot project led by the health and wellbeing team at Ashfield District Council and funded by Nottinghamshire County Council.

It aims to build knowledge and confidence to make healthy food choices, overcome the myth that healthy eating is expensive, and encourage residents to buy fresh and local.

Novelli brought his culinary expertise to the streets of Sutton town centre, focusing on healthy options.

Deputy leader of the council and portfolio holder for health and leisure, Tom Hollis, said: “It was brilliant to see so many people attending the cooking demonstrations and learning about the small changes that can make a big difference to your health.

“I would like to thank Jean-Christophe and also the fantastic traders in Idlewells Indoor Market, who provided delicious ingredients for the demonstrations.”

As part of the project, there will be:

Discounts for healthy food options sold in Idlewells Indoor Market.

Cook and eat sessions for residents to learn more about healthy eating and cooking healthy recipes.

A healthy eating event with Sutton primary schools.

Monthly healthy eating awareness events in Idlewells shopping centre.

Promotion of the Healthy Options Takeaway award with local businesses – encouraging local takeaways to provide healthy options.
