Hundreds more shoppers are expected to join in the festivities when Mansfield’s Four Seasons shopping centre celebrates its 40th birthday this week.
Following a successful weekend packed with party-themed activities – including disco party games, cake decorating and party hat making – the centre will be marking the date that it first threw its doors open to the public four decades ago with a huge party on Wednesday, 9 March, attended by the Mayor of Mansfield.
“We’ve already begun the celebrations and had a fantastic big weekend filled with fun activities for all the family,” said Rebekah O’Neill, Centre Manager at Four Seasons. “As our birthday is on a school day we wanted to make sure we didn’t leave anyone out, so our focus at the weekend was on making sure children could join in the festivities at our Buzzy B Club events on Saturday and Sunday,” she said.
“We were delighted to see so many people come along and join in the fun. Whilst children were decorating cupcakes or joining in the party games, parents and grandparents wrote messages of congratulations on our giant birthday card and shared their photographs and anecdotes on our memory boards,” she said. “Now we’re gearing up to mark the day itself on Wednesday.”
The day of celebrations will feature 70s disco party music playing throughout the malls, balloon animal displays and activities for younger children, and a ceremonial cake cutting attended by the Mayor of Mansfield Cllr Kate Allsop, long-serving centre staff and retailer colleagues, and reigning Miss Mansfield Amy Beilby.
“We’ve had such a lot of fun celebrating our 40th birthday, and it’s really great to see so many people joining in the excitement,” said Rebekah.
“This weekend was a huge success, with hundreds of people showing their support and helping us commemorate this terrific landmark. Everyone here is now really looking forward to welcoming shoppers young and old on Wednesday, as we show that Four Seasons is still fabulous at forty.”
The day of birthday celebrations will begin with the ceremonial cake cutting at 11am on Wednesday 9 March, with birthday-related fun activities throughout the day until 3pm.
