Posted onPosted on 26th May

Sherwood Forest Hospitals is thanking its volunteers across all three of its hospital sites as part of national volunteers’ week, which runs from 1st to 7th June.

The theme of the week this year is ‘you make the difference’. With this in mind a thanksgiving service is being held for the trust’s volunteers at Holy Trinity Centre, Newark, on Thursday, 1st June, from 2pm, which will be followed by afternoon tea.

On Tuesday, 6th June, the Voluntary Services AGM will be held in the Education Centre at King’s Mill Hospital, from 1.30pm–2.30pm, followed by tea and cake.

On Wednesday, 7th June there will be celebrations at Mansfield Community Hospital from 10.30am–noon in the Courtyard Restaurant.

Volunteers will be in the voluntary hubs throughout Sherwood Forest Hospitals all week to discuss their work with members of the public who are interested in finding out more about the work of our volunteers and fundraisers.

Community Involvement Manager Tracey Brassington said: “Our hospital volunteers continue to play a key role in the day to day life of Sherwood Forest Hospitals. They make a considerable contribution to enhancing the experiences of people using our services.”

King’s Mil Hospital volunteer Margaret Chisnell, who assists in the Community Involvement Hub, said: “I really enjoy volunteering at King’s Mill Hospital as it gives me satisfaction of doing something worthwhile for my community. Also meeting and helping people is a way of meeting new friends.”

Mansfield Community Hospital volunteer Ann Smart said: “I get satisfaction from helping people in the hospital; I also like mixing with other volunteers my own age. Volunteering every week helps to structure my week, which I do like.”

The trust will also be celebrating National Volunteers Week on its social media sites (Twitter – @SFHFT and Facebook – www.facebook.com/sherwoodforesthospitals) with a post a day about its volunteers
