Celebrating student achievements at The Brunts Academy

Posted onPosted on 18th Jul

The Brunts Academy celebrated the achievements of its students at a black-tie event, accompanied by music performed by year 11 student Reece Carver.

Entertainment at the Mansfield school event also included singing by Coral Jenkin, of year 9, and Mina Rae Jabanda, of year 10.

Special guests included Mansfield Town FC manager Nigel Clough, who took part in a question and answer session with students and the 500-strong audience.

Also among the guests were Mansfield mayor Andy Abrahams; Paul Brown, managing director of A Wass Funeral Directors; and Wayne Norrie, chief executive of Greenwood Academies Trust, of which the academy is a part.

Principal Rachel Sutcliffe said: “The staff and I are proud of our amazing students, who have responded so well to recent changes made to improve our academy. There is lots more that we aim to do on our improvement journey, and I am excited about the future for The Brunts Academy and its community.”

Wayne who closed the event, added: “Brunts is on the right road to success. It was a pleasure to attend such a fabulous event, celebrating the talents and achievements of our pupils.”

The awards ceremony included subject-specific accolades, where teachers nominated two outstanding students per year group. These recognised not only personal achievements, but also the embodiment of the academy’s core values — Be Proud, Be Respectful, Be Brave, and Be Ambitious.
