Celebrating Best Of British at car festival

Posted onPosted on 22nd Apr

The Wonderland Classic and Sports Car Festival is returning for a 21st year — and will be celebrating the Best Of British cars in a display tribute to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The annual event at Ferry Farm, Hoveringham, on 25th and 26th June, will also include live music on the Saturday evening and the chance to meet VIP guest Sarah ‘Crabbers’ Crabtree, formerly of the TV show Bangers & Cash, on the Sunday.

There will be free entry on the Saturday, dubbed preview day, from noon to 8pm. A Car Of The Night trophy and prize package will be awarded at 8pm.

Organisers said: “The preview day is an opportunity for the public to enjoy many of the stunning vehicles at a leisurely pace that will, on Sunday, be amongst the very busy ‘Show ‘n’ Shine’ displays.

“If you love 80s pop, ska and new wave music you will love Radio Romantic, featuring Joe Sunday, winner of National Tribute Awards, and Ruth Mills, in the evening.”

On the Sunday, Sarah Crabtree (above) will be promoting her new venture, Evoke Classics, and her role as ambassador for the Sustainable Skills Network with the Association of Heritage Engineers.

‘Show ‘n’ Shine’ Day, from 10am to 4pm, judging includes categories for vehicles from around the world manufactured or registered before 31st December 2010, including British classics, American ‘Muscle’ cars; and a display of European classic and sports car legends.

There will be models from across the Ford range, custom cars, Rods, vintage cars, modified cars and vehicles of special interest (kit cars, military and commercial vehicles).

Sherwood Jaguar Racing is to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, North Anston. A selection of cars from the Derbyshire Great British Car Journey collection will be part of the Best Of British display, which will feature cars built in Great Britain from 1952 to 2022. Carlton Male Voice Choir will aim to create a nostalgic atmosphere when it performs from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Only pre-booked entries are eligible for judging
