Celebrating apprentices

Mansfield mayor Kate Allsop praised the achievements of apprentices at a graduation ceremony, sponsored by Mansfield District Council, at Nottingham’s Albert Hall.

She presented graduation certificates to apprentices, including some who had completed their training with the council.

The authority has 11 apprentices working in a variety of roles, including administration, construction and communications.

Mayor Allsop said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic option for young people looking to get on the employment ladder at the same time as acquiring new skills and training.

“The apprentices at Mansfield have also made an invaluable contribution to the services provided by the council. It has been a great way to bring in young people with a fresh perspective on the world.”

The event was organised by NTN (Nottinghamshire Training Network) and East Midlands further education body Emfec.

About 140 apprentices graduated, having worked for local authorities, schools and colleges, the NHS, day nurseries, private care companies and care homes, hair salons, Wilkos, Boots and other local companies.
