A caring Mansfield hair and beauty salon has launched a Christmas appeal for a third successive year.

Wood’s Of Westgate is collecting selection boxes to donate to youngsters and the elderly who are at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, over the festive period.

The salon is aiming to collect at least 100 boxes, after previous successful Easter and Christmas appeals.

Manager Alanya Jennings said: “The feeling of knowing someone will receive something at Christmas is heartwarming.

“We would love our clients, friends, and families to donate a selection box. If we could reach our target, it would be our own version of a Christmas miracle.

“We feel strongly about giving back to the community and making people smile if they won’t be able to get home for Christmas.

“For example, not all elderly people have family who will take them a gift.”

Selection boxes can be left at the salon, on West Gate, before 16th December. It is open from 9am to 9pm on Tuesdays, 9am to 5pm on Wednesdays, 9am to 7pm on Thursdays, 9am to 3pm on Fridays, and 8.30am to 2.30 pm on Saturdays.
