Brightening up Kirkby

Posted onPosted on 31st Oct

An Ashfield Rotary club is playing its part in enhancing the local environment.

The Surgery on Lowmoor Road, Kirkby, agreed that Kirkby Rotary Club would take over two large, raised flower beds in front of the practice.

Rotarians cleared vegetation, levelled the soil and planted 300 viola plants, which were donated by Morrisons.

At the same time, Ashfield District Council handed over a nearby corner plot on Lowmoor Road to the Rotary club, which has planted more plants and shrubs.

Francis Newenham, chairman of the club’s projects committee, said: “It’s good to be working with the GP practice, council and Morrisons to contribute to the upkeep of our town’s environment.”
